MUSIC FROM MARS - a celebration of man | |
Brisbane’s leading musical theatre performers present an anthropological survey of the male species, from the alpha male, through to the "shallower ends" of the gene pool.
Featuring the most humorous, heart-breaking, inspiring, and theatrically challenging songs from Broadway and off-Broadway’s most critically acclaimed shows, including:
Miss Saigon • Hair • Avenue Q • The Last 5 Years • The Rocky Horror Picture Show • La Cage aux Folles • Next to Normal • The Secret Garden • Bare • Camelot • Dirty Rotten Scoundrels • Tick, Tick, Boom…and many more.
More than a simple anthology of Broadway’s greatest hits, this show explores the remarkable behavioural diversity that is inherent to mankind, and argues that it is such diversity that underpins our evolutionary success.
We are not all the same – and it is time that we celebrate our differences!
WARNING: this show contains coarse language and adult themes, and is recommended for mature audiences only.

Love and Revenge. Play the Game. Win or Die.
Based on the classic French novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, Christopher Hampton's Les Liaisons Dangereuses tells the sordid tale of the venomous Merteuil and the wickedly charming Valmont, two high-society rivals who use sex as a weapon to humiliate and destroy. Together they sabotage and excite each other, indifferent to the emotional wreckage they leave in the wake of their cruel games.
Only flirt with those you intend to refuse: then you acquire a reputation for invincibility, whilst slipping safely away with the lover of your choice. A poor choice is less dangerous than an obvious choice. Never write letters. Get them to write letters. Always be sure they think they're the only one. Win or Die.
Les Liaisons Dangereuses has had several popular reincarnations including the 1989 Academy Award winning film Dangerous Liaisons and the recent cult hit Cruel Intentions.
See the game as it has never been played before in THAT production Company's gothic retelling of Hampton's acclaimed play. 5 shows only this November at the Roundhouse Theatre.

it's a privilege to pee!
One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, Urinetown is an hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold.
In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom!
Featuring Harvest Rain's 2009 Interns and directed by Tim O'Connor, Urinetown is a humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Winner of three Tony Awards, Urinetown has been praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be!
Don’t miss Harvest Rain Theatre Company’s first production at the Roundhouse Theatre.
