| Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf at the Cremorne | |
Presented by Queensland Theatre Company
With his taut script and sizzling dialogue, Edward Albee caused a sensation when this play first hit the stage in 1962. And in George and Martha, he created two of the most memorable and timeless characters of modern theatre.
History professor George and his voracious wife Martha use booze and verbal sparring to mask their frustrations with life and each other. Newly appointed Biology tutor Nick and his timid wife Honey arrive at George and Martha’s post-party drinks, unaware that their hosts’ invitation is far from innocent. As the drinks flow freely George and Martha’s darker impulses emerge, and a bewildered Nick and Honey struggle to compete with the increasingly vicious mind games. For all four, this is one night they will never forget!
Featuring Kerith Atkinson, Andrea Moor, Andrew McFarlane

| The Government Inspector at QPAC from 11th Oct | |
Presented by Bell Shakespeare
Renowned director, John Bell, unites two of Australia's finest actors to bring to life a classic comedy of Russian theatre, Gogol's The Government Inspector.
Darren Gilshenan and William Zappa use their consummate skill and energy to play all 19 characters in this sharp and hilarious satire, with plenty of physical mayhem.
Lazy and inept members of a local council are horrified at the prospect of being exposed when they learn a government inspector is coming to town. But they mistake a down-at-heel playboy for the incoming official... and so the games begin.
A dazzling blend of farcical characters and all-too-real situations, Gogol's masterpiece has lost none of its bite. This unflinching send-up of institutional greed, stupidity and sloth, performed by Australia’s national touring theatre company, is not to be missed.

| The Laramie Project at the Visy Theatre from 24th Oct | |
On a clear, cold Wyoming morning in October 1998, university student Matthew Shepard was beaten, tied to a fence post in the middle of nowhere and left for dead.
This profoundly moving performance chronicles the life of the town of Laramie in the year after the murder. Matthew Shepard, the victim of a lethal gay bashing, became a national symbol of intolerance, and a deeply personal tragedy for the town.
Compiled from journal entries, news reports and over 200 interviews with Laramie citizens and people deeply affected by Matthew Shepards life and death, this performance brings awareness to the key components of his murder and the crucial weeks that followed.
Don't miss this breathtaking theatrical collage, designed by Kieran Swann and directed by Lucas Stibbard
