Talking Heads from 9th Nov at Playhouse, QPAC

Two of the world’s finest actresses will star in two outstanding plays from award-winning playwright Alan Bennett.

Twice nominated for an Academy Award, and Golden Globe winning actress, Brenda Blethyn will star in Miss Fozzard Finds Her Feet and joining her is Australia’s best loved actress, Sigrid Thornton performing Her Big Chance in what can only be described as a theatrical tour de force.

Miss Fozzard Finds Her Feet is the delightful tale of a guileless spinster, who, when her chiropodist retires, finds happy feet with her new specialist. Forced to leave her position in soft furnishings at the local department store, as the primary carer for her disabled brother, Miss Fozzard ventures into an extraordinary relationship with her new podiatrist opening her to a world of new experiences.

Her Big Chance is the story of Lesley, an ambitious yet somewhat delusional actress in search of the ever elusive “Big Break”. Lesley works hard at her craft but needs a career “leg up”. Will a chance encounter at a party provide just that?

The Talking Heads monologues are poignant yet hilarious pieces that showcase Bennett’s brilliant powers of observation and comic timing, often revealing the darker more satirical side of his work.

And is there more to the stone dog than meets the eye?

Time is running out for our three ex-Musketeers, until they hatch a daring plan to seize the day: their own great escape from the nursing home!
